Checking Out Facts: Avoiding Mis-information

Checking factsI’m often told that messages from mediums are too vague. When I read articles about Spirit connections I wonder if we all deal with the same bunch of Spirits. Facts seem hard to come by. And checking them out is vital.

When I was unaware of my own connections to Spirit I wondered how mediums got the information they did. I thought it would be as simple as having a face to face conversation with a disembodied person. It wasn’t until I started checking out how Spirit communication happened that I found such a wide variety of experiences. When I began communicating myself I was keen to have factual information. Pieces of the message that would have been difficult for me to know any other way. Simply because I felt that the person getting the message would listen to it better if it contained some sort of evidence.

Now I understand that, whatever way each individual connects, the Energy Beings can always bring factual information through to validate the messages. So sometimes I’m a bit puzzled when I read about messages, or ways of working, that seem to be less fact based and more ‘trust me’ focused. I encourage every one to approach my readings prepeared to do some checking out. Because I may say things that they don’t know or understand. Until they have checked with family members or friends. It’s the same as going to buy a designer handbag. I want to know, before I spend my money, that I am getting the genuine article. So why shouldn’t I be open to being checked out too?

There is, I also believe, a duty on me as a medium to do some fact checking too. I have to ensure that my connections are with the right Spirits.

It’s no use to someone that I give a message from a random stranger. I know that we pay less attention to what strangers say. And I also know that people get great comfort from knowing that their loved ones are still around. Any connection therefore has to be with someone who can give me the kind of factual information that a loved one would know. Vague bits of partial memories or circumstances won’t do. I expect my family in Spirit to know all about me and to bring that knowledge with them. They also know key pieces of information that mean a lot to me.

If I expect that standard of facts it’s fair that I do my best to provide it in my messages for others. Of course not every message will be perfect or as good as I would wish it. But I also choose to break the link if a basic level of factual information doesn’t appear to be there. Checking out my connection, the Spirit communicator and the evidence being brought forward is the key, I feel, to a positive and well received message. Perhaps it’s my desire to be down to Earth in my approach that has made me set things out this way. But in the service for Spirit I would rather people get informaed of how the communication process works than be mis-informed by what happens.

I have ways believed in the ‘educated sitter’. That is, the person who believes in checking things out when getting their message. Facts are a great way to do that. So make sure you ask for, and get, as much factual information as possible.

Day 616 of my blogging challenge

A Human Transitions Back To Spirit

I traveled out to Bacup today to take a church service. My job is to relay the messages from those who no longer live in a human body. They have made the biggest change of all. Back into Spirit.

It’s a job I’ve done for a long time. I often think I’ve covered everything there is to know about death and the Afterlife. Yet every now and then the Spirit World reminds me of the amazing process that transition can be. In the move from being human to being Spirit again how much love and compassion there is. Because today there were some lovely examples of the continuation of our exsistance and one very wonderful message of hope. I’ve written before about my evidence based mediumship. I want the person getting the message to feel or sense the presence of their Spirit loved one. That is greatly helped by factual information that I can be given that I would be unable to get in any other way.

During the messages this afternoon there was plenty of fact passed on through me. Confirmations that someone other than me was present. But to get that sense of presence  I also want the messages to be relevant to the listener. Loved ones come back to help. To give us a positive boost. To get us laughing and even hopeful again. I know they can’t take away the grief of their leaving. But they certainly want to remind us that they haven’t gone for good. So sometimes it’s also important to explain how they made the transition to the Afterlife. Giving information about their death or what happened afterwards helps to confirm that they have crossed over successfully. It sets minds at rest on this human side of life.

It’s also true that in the Afterlife they keep their human personality. That way when they message us we can recognise them. But they have returned to their true Spirit self as well.

Today I saw both aspects of that transition. There was a message from a very recently passed Spirit who came in his human self to ask that his family be reassured that he is safe with loved ones in Spirit. He told who collected him and helped him cross. He also asked that his loved ones here be supported in their grief. And he provided comfort to others by showing that loved ones survive that great transition. Now matter how challenging it may appear to be to us. From our human perspective. Along side him and helping him was another Spirit known to some of the congregation. The second Spirit explained that the energy around the first one required a booster. The second Spirit was the boost.

Although both Spirits were complete strangers to one another they shared a common link with people in the church. Much to the delight of those who it mattered to both Spirits had joined forces to bring in their messages of love. Especially the second Spirit. This one came as a pure Spirit being. One who had been human but was now through the completed transition process and fully back connected to the Afterlife. One who could let the human personality go and move on to do the work required in the Afterlife. My Guides tell me there is always a great sense of achievement when a Spirit completely lets go of their need to be human any longer. Because it is a new beginning. A fresh start. I know my Mum made that transition in order to be one of my Guides. That doesn’t mean I’ve lost her human side. She can pick it back up again if she has to.

However, I also get the benefit of the unconditional love she radiates as a Spirit. That helps me so much. Human aspect or Spirit aspect, our loved ones have made a tremendous change. One we have to make. But one that, when it comes, will be a joyful new beginning for our Spirit.

Day 580 of my blogging challenge

Excellence – Aim High

imageOne of the things I love is when I get a message from the Spirit World from another medium. I know I can tune in myself and get guidance or messages yet when I hear my loved ones speaking through someone else it’s like extra confirmation. It’s also lovely to receive more evidence that my loved ones are around me too. They pay attention to what is going in and can tell me what I have had happening. So I want to be able to offer as much information and evidence as I can in my messages. It makes the Spirit person ‘real’ to their loved one, especially when I can offer unusual information. That is why I have a passion for excellence in evidential mediumship.

I also love listening to mediums work to develop themselves. Many people attend Open Circles to practice connecting to the Spirit World and passing on messages. Tonight I was at the Open Circle at Wakefield SNU church to open the circle by doing the first few messages. Then it was my turn to sit down and have a message for myself. The medium made a great connection and gave evidence that I understood perfectly. I’m not an easy person to give a message to. I tend to close my aura down so that I can’t be ‘read’ psychically. My answers are very limited. I resist the urge to explain or offer information. I do these things because I want my messages to be from Spirit and for the medium who has given them to know that they have had a Spirit connection. It’s also nice to be able to give feedback to confirm what has been given in evidence. Especially if the evidence and message has been excellent.

Many people criticise mediums for cold reading or clever guessing. It is difficult to manage a message if someone is giving you too much of their personal info rather than letting you tell them what you are getting. However, mediums work hard not to ask questions, to only take yes or no answers and to ignore any body language. We would prefer to get the evidence direct from Spirit. And we look for evidence that is more out of the ordinary too. When you are able to ‘read’ someone’s aura energy there is always the possibility that the info you might get is what can be found in the aura of the person you are speaking to. This is definitely not a Spirit connection. It’s the connection all of us can use intuitively. So someone working towards excellence in their mediumship will take great care to close the intuitive human to human connection before opening the Spirit to medium connection.

That is what is exciting about developing your own intuitive connections. If you wish to move on to connecting with the Spirit World your Guides will show you ways of working more and more accurately. They want the same excellence so that the people getting messages feel the love and support of their loved ones even if we are temporarily in two different worlds. It’s about aiming high. The sky really is the limit. The more you ask for evidence the clearer it will come through. I have to say that I’m very lucky. I have had a passion (some would probably say an obsession, lol) for excellence all my adult life. When I found I was making connections to Energy Beings I decided that I wanted good quality, clear and precise evidence. That way I could be sure that I was connecting to a Spirit, that the message following up the evidence was clear and helpful and that I was doing the best I was capable of.

A long time ago, in another part of my life I read a book called A Passion For Excellence by Tom Peters and Nancy Austin. It was a book that pulled together the answers to many questions I had about leadership and management. It was also a book that echoed my old school motto of Aim High. Now more than ever, as the energy shifts and we are all being nudged ever more strongly towards our spiritual path I feel that a passion for excellence resonates once more. If we do the things that we care passionately about we will most likely have many attempts at prototypes. These will, in the end, if we keep aiming high, bring us to a place of excellence. Not to stand still. Not to rest on our laurels. We can share the passion, encourage the excellence and support those people still finding their path to their passion. I believe when we are aiming high we find the joy  of spiritual service. This is a wonderful reward for all of our efforts and the motivation for finding the next passion that we want to develop.
